About Dr. Joseph Welch
On Performance

Joseph Welch is a dynamic and versatile performer, most at home at the piano and working with singers. A stylistic chameleon, he moves seamlessly from art song to blues, from continuo realization to chord charts, bringing the same care and creativity to every genre.

His versatility shines in crossover and cabaret-styled recitals with artists such as Christine Brewer, Schyler Vargas, Corie Auger, and Meredith Pyle. As pianist for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s In Unison Chorus, he has performed with guest artists like Wintley Phipps, Bebe Winans, and Capathia Jenkins. As Artist-in-Residence at Opera Edwardsville,
Welch performs selections from across the operatic repertoire. And in his work at Blackburn College, he music directs and conducts all performances.
